Transportation Services is Rated Silver!

Since 2024, Transportation Services has been rated as a silver-level Sustainable office. This means that Transportation Services makes a serious effort to promote sustainability within the office minimizing waste and energy use. The Sustainable Office Certification run by the Sustainability Engagement institute and aims to help offices implement sustainability measure laid out in Westerns Sustainability Action Plan. Transportation Services as an office is working hard to ensure western continues to be a leader in university sustainability.  Focusing on providing high quality transportation options for students and ensuring that students can live car free.

At Western Washington University we encourage everybody to use alternatives to driving alone to campus. Transportation Services supports active transportation by coordinating student and employee bus passes and by providing bicycling support and education, commute trip reduction information, and trip planning assistance.

The University's Sustainable Action Plan calls for a 10% reduction year-over-year of drive alone commute rates for both students and employees.

Driving less is a significant way to save money, reduce stress, increase your physical activity, and reduce your impact on the planet. Not sure how to get started? Contact transportation@wwu.edu today!
