Campus Parking Availability

Parking Is Limited on Campus

Parking on Campus

Parking on campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods is extremely limited, and parking regulations are strictly enforced. A valid WWU parking permit is required to park in all Western parking lots — and even with a permit, a space isn't guaranteed. Permit sales are managed carefully to keep space available, but demand regularly outpaces supply.

Students: there are only about 2,200 student parking spaces for WWU's roughly 15,000 students, so most students will not receive a parking permit. We recommend avoiding bringing a car to campus if you can.

There are approximately:

  • 700 spaces for resident students
  • 1,100 spaces for commuting students
  • 400 additional off-campus student spaces

Employees: there are only about 1,400 employee parking spaces on campus for roughly 3,000 employees. We recommend commuting by bus, walking, biking, or carpooling when possible.
