How to Get an Employee Parking Permit
Parking Portal
Use the Parking Portal to get on a permit wait list, buy a day pass or pay a citation.
Permit Waitlist System
- Parking permits are awarded through a waitlist system.
- Waitlist position is ordered based on seniority — the number of days you've been employed at WWU.
- Because permits are awarded based on seniority, it can take longer for newer employees to be awarded a permit in higher-demand lots.
Not sure where to start? This video covers the basics of parking.
Step 1
Add yourself to the waitlist for your desired parking lot through the Parking Portal.
Step 2
Once you're awarded a permit, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to purchase it.
Step 3
Log into the Parking Portal, select "Get Permits," choose your awarded permit, and add your vehicle information.
Step 4
Once your checkout is complete, you'll receive an emailed receipt and be able to park in your permit's corresponding lot.
Permit Renewal
- Quarterly permits are automatically sent a renewal offer — no need to reapply through the waitlist. Offers go out about 3 weeks before the end of each quarter.
- Annual employee permits renew automatically too — offers are sent out each May for the next academic year. Unlike students, employees don't need to rejoin the waitlist to keep their permit for the following year.
Common Questions
Yes — academic and annual permits offer multiple-payroll deduction. Quarterly permits are one-time payroll deduction or credit card only.
No, there's no physical permit to display. Always enter your license plate correctly — in the Parking Portal, at a pay station, or in the ParkMobile app. License plate readers are how officers verify valid permits while patrolling.
Not necessarily. If you're on campus infrequently, a Pay-by-Day permit may be cheaper — see Permit Types & Eligibility for details on how that works.
