Living On Campus
Moving into a residence hall? Here's what you need to know
- Active unloading is allowed next to residence halls for up to 20 minutes. Parking longer or violating other regulations may result in a citation.
- After unloading, park in a Residential Parking Lot (R Lot) using the ParkMobile app, Zone 1242.
- By 11:59 PM on your move-in day, any vehicle remaining on campus needs to move to a C lot — Fall Quarter permits aren't valid until 9/16/2026, so you'll need a temporary permit for the gap between move-in and when your real permit kicks in.
- Move-In Visitor Permits are valid in:
- 1R (Buchanan Towers)
- 3R (Edens & Higginson)
- 4R (Mathes & Nash)
- 15R & 20R (Ridgeway)
- 18R (Fairhaven)
- 27R (Birnam Wood — hourly permits always available here, follow posted ParkMobile payment options)
- Full step-by-step instructions — downloading ParkMobile, purchasing a permit, exact pay station locations — are on the Early Move-In Parking page. Link out rather than duplicate; that page has the complete process detail and stays the single source of truth for it.

No R Lot Permit? Park at Lincoln Creek
Resident (R) lot permits are limited, and many students living on campus won't get one. If you don't, you can buy a Lincoln Creek permit and store your car at the off-campus Lincoln Creek lot. WTA buses connect the lot to campus. See Lincoln Creek Lot for permit and bus details.
Common Questions
Contact Transportation Services and they'll issue a temporary relocation permit while parking enforcement patrols to confirm the lot's actually full and everyone parked there has a valid permit.
Yes — the After Hours Permit is free and lets you park in lots 5G, 7G, 9G, 11G, 17G, and 19G (no other lots) evenings (4:30 PM–7 AM, Mon–Fri) and all day on weekends. Sign up in the Parking Portal.
Limited resident overflow parking is available at the Lincoln Creek Lot, an off-campus lot about a 10-minute WTA bus ride from campus.
No extra cost — if you already have a car/truck permit in a C or R lot, you can add your motorcycle's license plate to that same permit for free. Only one permitted vehicle can be parked on campus at a time, though.
