Bringing a Bike to Campus? Register Your Bike!

Western has partnered with Bike Index which offers a nation-wide registry that allows the university, community members, and law enforcement to get your bike back to you if it is stolen.

How to register your bike:

Register from your phone or computer on Bike Index's website by first creating an account and then adding your bike. Visit the Transportation Services Bike Registration Page for step by step instructions. Be sure to link your account to WWU.

Place a Bike Index QR code sticker on your bike.

Pick up a Bike Index QR code sticker from the Outdoor Center or Transportation Services (OM 120) to put on your bike. If a person finds your stolen bike, they can scan the stickers QR code or search with the bike's serial number and see it marked as stolen. These Stickers have been shown to reduce the chance of theft!

Why register your bike?

Registering your bike provides a record of the bike that can be easily searched for by the police if your bike is found. Bike registration enhances your chances of getting a lost or stolen bike back. It also provides you with a way to retrieve bike information at a later time if needed for insurance or other reasons.

For questions about the bike registration program or assistance in registering your bike email atc@wwu.edu or visit Transportation Services or Outdoor Center.
