Event Parking
Parking Services assists with hosting over 600 events annually. Events range from small events, parking 10 attendees to large events with 1000 or more attendees. Departmental Guest Permits
Using the directions below, University Departments can purchase guest parking permits 24/7 online on Western's Parking Portal.
Employees and students are NOT eligible for this permit.

*If your guests will be parking in 11G, please direct them to park only in the spaces that are signed for guest parking.
The license plate number of your guest's car is required for a permit to be purchased and valid.
You will need a department email address to complete the next steps. If your department does not have a department email address ask your IT support person to create one for you. Then contact Transportation Services at 360-650-2945 or by email to provide us with your department email address. After you receive confirmation that your department account has been created, continue to Western's Parking Portal and do the following.
- Login with your department email
- Click to create password
- You will receive an email confirmation to your department email account
- Select “Get Permits”

Departments must provide a fast index or FOAPAL on the request. Cancellations must be submitted up to 1 hour prior to arrival time via email to transportation@wwu.edu.
All Guest Permits issued are subject to audit by Transportation Services, WWU Internal Auditors and External/State Auditors. By submission of this request, you acknowledge you have approval from your budget authority.
Guest Parking for More Than Two Vehicles
If you are requesting guest parking for more than two vehicles, this is considered an event. Please follow the directions for departmental guest permits and complete an Events Request Form in the Parking Portal. Allow three business days for the process to be completed.
Guest Parking with a Sign or Sandwich Board
If you are requesting guest parking that is reserved with a sign or sandwich board, this is considered an event. Please follow the directions for departmental guest permits complete an Events Request Form in the Parking Portal. Allow three business days for the process to be completed.
Guest Parking Exceptions
Guest parking exceptions are not processed through the Western Parking Portal. They are handled by Transportation Services on an individual basis. The same hours and rates apply.
Exceptions Requests submitted after 3:00 PM will not be processed until the following business day. If you will be parking your guest with one of the exceptions listed below, also complete the Online Guest Parking Exception Request Form.

University Business Permits
University Business Permits allow for short term (up to two hours) parking in an expanded list of parking lots across campus. University Business permits are only considered valid when used with a valid parking permit or a Pay-by-day permit that is activated the same day that the University Business Permit is used. Failure to comply with these restrictions may result in a parking citation.
Departments will be held responsible for the distribution of rules to employees using these permits.
The University Business Permit is issued for the purpose of conducting university business; personal activities/appointments are not considered a valid use of this permit. Identified misuse of this accommodation may result in revocation of the permit(s).
The University Business Permit is VALID in these lots only (unless otherwise authorized):
7G, 9G, 12G, 19G, 24G, 32G, and C
The University Business Permit is NOT VALID in these spaces:
Metered, Load Zones, Loading Docks, Reserved, Maintenance, Physically Disabled
Department Reserved Space
